Webinar - Space, Objects & Materials: Facilitating Children's Natural Curiosity
Online Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Setting up meaningful invitations, that are both aesthetically pleasing and rich in sensorial potential,
have the capacity to facilitate natural curiosity, critical thinking and learning processes.
Through daily proposals of engaging and relevant materials,
children can expand on their learning capacities as well as deepen their understanding of the world around them.
Driven by exploration and inquiry, these sessions will guide the participants as to how to view the materials at hand,
what are the different ways of inviting children through the use of materials, and how to extend on the given responses and possibilities.
Living Inquiries:
Well-being and belonging. Engagement with others, materials, and the world. Communication and Literacies Identities, social responsibility, and diversity.
Pathways:
Joy in relationships with people, place, materials and ideas. Diversity and difference. Every child is a gift. Interests and inquiries. Spaces, objects, and materials. Reconnection to land, place.
Suitable for
ECE students, parents, intermediate and experienced early care and learning professionals
working with children of all ages,
from infants/toddlers to school age children, including children with extra support needs.
Facilitator(s): Ana Vojnovic
Ana works as an educator (UBC Child Care), artist, research-based designer and a lecturer.
Her pedagogical and creative practices are an integrated interdisciplinary response to basic questions of
how built/designed environments affect and condition human perception, communication, learning, and socialisation.
