Responsible Adult In Child Care Settings Course
This is a multi-day workshop. Please ensure you are available for all the dates listed below:
Online Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm and
Other sessions are Mondays and Wednesdays: May 22, 27, 29; June 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19 and 24. from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Description:
This course was developed by Westcoast to meet the requirements for 20 hours
Responsible Adult training as stipulated by the Child Care Regulation.
Through online sessions, it covers concepts about child development from birth to 12 years of age,
child guidance, health, safety and nutrition and programming.
This is a basic course meant for people starting their career in child care.
This course is not suitable for those requiring professional development to renew an ECE or ECEA certificate.
Suitable for adults starting their career in child care. It is recommended that participants who want to open a family child care program,
also take the 16-hour Administration for Family Child Care Course (AFCC) in addition to Westcoast’s 20-hour Responsible Adult Course,
to learn about family child care as a business.
This course is not suitable for those requiring professional development to renew an ECE or ECEA certificate.
Employment Possibilities
Responsible Adults are qualified to work in:
- School Age Group Child Care (licensed before and after school care).
- Occasional Child Care (licensed).
- As a replacement (substitute/casual on call) for an ECE Assistant (for less than 30 days)
- in a licensed group child care centre (a Responsible Adult may not replace a fully qualified early childhood educator).
- Open a licensed family child care or registered licence not required (RLNR) child care.*
- Summer camps.
