workshop will consist of a 60-minute presentation and 30 minute Q&A.

Here is some more information on the session “How to teach picky eaters to try new foods without a battle.”

About 50% of children go through a “picky eating” stage. Attendees will learn why this is true,

and our dietitian will share practical strategies to help picky eaters try new foods.

Workshop learning outcomes:·

Discuss 7 reasons why toddlers and preschoolers are often picky eaters.

·   Learn about the caregivers’ roles and the child’s roles in the Division of Responsibility in Feeding. Decide on the changes to make,

if needed to ensure your childcare setting is following these roles.

·     Determine how to make foods that are often challenging for kids to eat (like veggies and meat) easier to eat.

·     Discuss how to create an environment that is conducive to children to be in the correct state for trying new foods

at a meal and changes your childcare setting could implement.

·     Create a list of food play ideas to help children learn about food in a fun way and decrease sensory sensitivity.
