About the event
Event Date : Tue, Nov 28 2023, 6:30 - 9:30pm
Many early childhood educators interact with young children who have experienced trauma on a regular basis.
To provide optimal support and create positive self-identities for children,
it is crucial for early childhood settings to be safe and trauma-sensitive spaces (Statman-Weil, 2015).
This workshop serves as an introduction to trauma-informed practice,
emphasizing the importance of being trauma aware as a foundational step in the trauma-informed practice continuum.
During the session, participants will gain a brief overview of what trauma is,
what educators might see in their practice and basic responses will be explored as we align practice to Flight and matters to be considered.
Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their role in being trauma aware and
explore general practices to prevent compassion fatigue and burnout.
Key Workshop Highlights: Understanding the concept of trauma and its impact on young children.
Identifying signs and behaviors associated with trauma in educational settings. Exploring trauma-informed responses and strategies to support traumatized children. Reflecting on the role of educators in creating trauma-aware environments. Techniques to avoid compassion fatigue and burnout in the context of trauma-informed practice.
Join us for this informative and engaging workshop as we empower educators to enhance their practice and
create safe spaces that promote healing, resilience, and positive development in young children impacted by trauma!
